Deuteronomy 34: 1-12
The view from the mountain, enticing, expectant,
the end of a journey, the start of new life;
and Moses was watching with longing and heartache,
while Joshua waited to lead in the strife.
Though Moses is dead now his name is remembered
from Nebo, cross Jordan, way over the sea.
He rests in a valley, a grave long forgotten.
His task now completed, the people set free.
The Israelites wept. When the mourning was ended
the people moved onward, they took a new stand...
