Fools for the world, Christ makes us fools;
God's foolishness our call.
The world looks on and pours its scorn -
God's wisdom shall not fall.
Fools in a world where greed is good;
Christ serves the humble poor,
That all who hunger shall receive
From His abundant store.
Fools in a world of constant war;
Christ ministers for peace,
In broken bread and poured out wine
We taste God's foolishness.
Fools following Christ into the world
Where God's way ends in death
And overturns the powers that be
To rise on wisdom's breath.
Christ is the fool whose wisdom shines
Through all earth's sin and shame;
We praise and follow in his Way
And die to rise with Him.
