Secure in his wisdom and bondings of trust
A teacher of Israel disturbed by a gust
Was driven to seek under cover of night
The answers to questions that burned with God’s light
 
A carpenter rabbi, young coarse and uncouth
Had acted with power that pointed to truth
And ruffled and buffeted fences of creed
Offensive to power, turning tables of greed
