See the vineyard I‚ your God‚ once planted;
full of healthy vines it was‚ to bear
all the rich abundant fruit I wanted —
how I tended it with loving care!
Sing a song about my cherished vineyard‚
dug and planted on a fertile hill.
When I come to you‚ beloved vineyard‚
may your vines be choice and fruitful still!
When‚ however‚ came the time to gather‚
songs of vintage turned to sad lament:
not a single grape was good‚ but rather
sour grapes mocked the effort I had spent.
