Tell our stories to the children of a journey long ago
when the people fled from slavery to a land they did not know.
Tell of how the sea before them opened up to make a way
and how cloud and fire led them so they would not go astray.
Tell of how the thirsty people saw the water flow from rock;
how their hunger pangs were dealt with when the quails began to flock;
how the dew that fell each morning turned to manna for their bread
and, in spite of all their grumblings, each and every one was fed.
