What now? – a reflection for Ascension
‘Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up towards heaven?’ (Acts 1:11)
It’s a moment in time – or when time stands still for just a bit. Jesus’ followers
stand, their eyes following his body as it rises into the clouds and out of sight. They
remain staring at the sky. It’s an ending, but an ending with the promise of a new
beginning. Once again, Jesus’ friends find themselves in a time of waiting, a limbo,
wondering ‘what now?’.
