We get so used to going it alone that it can be very difficult to switch off when we finally get some help and some time to ourselves. I’ve got a respite break at the moment (to let me write this book!) and I feel restless, edgy, guilty – not very helpful emotions. Here, alone in the quiet, I am suddenly aware of how I’m on the alert all the time, listening out for problems, the adrenaline coursing through my system.
Maybe I’ve been carrying too much for too long and have not really been leaning on God the way he invites us to...
