Description

A meditation which leads people into prayer three times.

The irritating dots at the end of every line are intended both as reminders to slow down and as invitations to add a few more words (but not many).  Just like the equation, this type of prayer is all about space.

Whispering the two syllables of the word Yah-weh when breathing in and out is a meditation technique in its own right. It may be worth introducing before starting the prayer. The idea is that it is repeated many times so that the name of God becomes part of our breathing.

The prayers could be closed with the suggested song or another one, or perhaps with an improvised link to the Lord's Prayer.

Be aware of the physical world around you…
Be aware of the physicality that is you…
The matter that is you…
Notice what it feels like…
Let this lead into prayer about creation and your place in it

[Silence]

Be aware of the light and the darkness around you…
Be aware of the light and darkness that is you…
Your light and darkness are one – they are not divided up…
Notice what this feels like…
Let this lead you into prayer of confession…

[Silence]

Be aware of the air around you…
