Description

Poem/meditation: Offering sacrifice

We do not offer
sacrificial animals on a stone altar.
We look on such things as being primitive
and of historical interest only.
We do not spill blood
in order to appease our God,
even though blood was spilt for our sakes
as the cross of Jesus claimed its victim.

We see no reason
to bring gifts of food and wine, or gold and silver,
to a God who has no need of such things.
It would be pointless –
