Description

A modern psalm reflecting on the aches and pains we get, relative to those of Jesus.

Shoulders
My Shoulders hurt, Lord.
I worked hard yesterday, moving those boxes,
And now my shoulders hurt.
Or was it cutting the hedge in the evening?
Maybe I wasn’t careful.
The Doctor says its stress: tension in the shoulders.
But then they do say that all the time.
You could walk in with a spear in your side,
And they would call it stress.
You talked about yokes, Lord.
That would make your shoulders ache!
The weight on our shoulders would be light, you said;
Never really believed that line!
Church always seems to bring more to do, not less.
But I have noticed that, with your help,
My shoulders have got stronger.
So they hurt a bit, but I can cope.
