Reflection/Poem-I know my place

I know my place (Luke 14:7-14)

I know my place.
I’ve climbed the ladder of success:
Acquiring knowledge
And developing the right skills.
I’ve learnt who to impress
And who can be ignored.
I don’t waste my time
On those who are a waste of space.
I’ve put in the hard graft
And feel I am entitled to respect:
But I do not expect to be loved.
Those above me will watch their backs
And want to keep me down.
Those below are nothing to me.
I know my place.
