A meditation on Matthew 5:13-20
Salt
Salt – being salty.
The problem is, dear friend, that when I think about myself –
the words that I say, the things that I do –
it is not the word ‘salty’ that comes into my mind.
I worry, Lord, that my Christian life is just a little bit bland.
I’m afraid that is the word that comes flashing into my brain...
When I think of my witness and service,
Bland.
I’ve always pictured salt as giving flavour, perking up.
Giving a bit of a kick, zest, life, perhaps even (dare I say it) being a bit controversial.
