The Cost of Saying Jesus is Lord
Imagine life in Germany in the late 1930s. A Jewish teacher called Joshua is saying some things which are exciting for the powerless but alarming for the powerful. Soon the Gestapo arrest him, torture him and execute him. They think that's the end of it but then some of his followers begin saying that they have seen him alive. This unauthorised, subversive movement grows and their outrageous declaration is 'Joshua is the Fuhrer!' In that case, Hitler isn't. Now you have an idea of the cost to the first Christians, living in a regime just as totalitarian and ruthless, of saying 'Jesus is Lord ' (so Caesar isn't).
