A young woman goes to her youth leader for help
a revue sketch.

THE ALDRIDGES
MRS A IS CHECKING HER HAIR AND MAKE—UP PRIOR TO GOING TO THE HOUSE GROUP. THERE IS A KNOCK AT THE DOOR.
MRS A Sugar! (SHE OPENS THE DOOR AND SMILES) Hello.
CAROL Sorry to bother you, Mrs Aldridge.
MRS A Not at all! We’re always delighted to see any of the Young People.
CAROL Can I talk to you a bit?
MRS A Of course — you’re welcome any time.
CAROL Only, I’ve got to talk to someone. I didn’t know who else...
MRS A Of course not... Come in — you’ll have to take us as you find us I’m afraid. The place is a tip. Alan’s only just home from work, he’s changing, and I’m just dashing round before we go out to our house group — so ignore the mess — we used to blame it on Stephen but now he’s got his own flat we can’t can we? Anyway, come in, sit down, if you can. (CAROL SITS)
CAROL It’s just that...
MRS A Let me take your jacket.
CAROL It’s all right.
MRS A We may as well be comfortable.
(CAROL STANDS, MRS A TAKES HER JACKET, THEY BOTH SIT)
Now, tell me about it.
CAROL Well, you see Mrs Aldridge...
