Description

Extract from poem:

Once upon a time many years ago,
A beautiful young girl sang in a choir all aglow.
The church was bathed in a pure white light,
This gave the congregation much delight,

On walking day each year the choir trailed,
Behind the church’s banner unfurled,
It was carried high above their heads,
It cast a shadow it must be said,

The crowds lining the street gazed in wonder,
When they saw its glory and all it’s colour
The little ones behind the banner could only sing,
They could not see the picture of the King of Kings,

The story behind this poem is a true one told to the poet by an elderly lady friend who sang in a church choir for most of her life. The poem has been read on UCB radio. Poem is by Audrey Anne Hogan
