Travelling Nativity
Introductions for advent services.
Each weeks liturgy is split into three sections; a reading, a reflection and a prayer.
Each of these could be read by the same person or a different person could read each section.
We would suggest that on the 'Sending' week all of the liturgy is read as the last act within the service after which someone collects Mary and Joseph from the crib and takes them out of the Church.
On following weeks we would suggest that the candle is lit by the person/people who is/are Journeying with Mary and Joseph and the figures brought to the front of the church at that point. Where singing a verse of a hymn is suggested, this hymn could be either 'The Holy and the Ivy' or another progressive carol.
If you are using 'The Holy and the Ivy' please do match the verses used to the themes of the weeks and change the numbers in the verses accordingly i.e. use verse two for the first candle but sing 'Oh, one is for the prophets'
