A PRAYER FOR THE GLOBAL COMMUNITY Amos 5: 24
1 Lord‚ in this‚ the global village‚
crime is rampant‚ armies pillage;
by their senseless acts, the greedy
trample down the poor and needy.
2 Honesty and truth desiring‚
clearly you are heard requiring
justice for your sons and daughters‚
rolling down like mighty waters.
3 May we heed your plain injunction‚
change our lives to show compunction
and create‚ amid the sadness‚
bold communities of gladness.
4 Simple living may we proffer‚
valid be the prayer we offer‚
in and for the global city:
“Hear us‚ Lord‚ in your great pity!”
