Father God whose face in Jesus
Shows a love that saves and sees us,
Holds and keeps and calls and frees us,
For a crying world we pray
When a man dies in a moment,
When a world ends in the ferment
Of dis-ease, despair and torment,
For a hurting world we pray.
When a family, church or nation
Loses hope or inspiration,
Finds no cause for celebration,
We would share the hurt and pray.
When commitments, calls are ended,
When the darkness seems extended,
When the light’s not comprehended,
For a lost world we would pray.
Father, you have moved to mend us,
This we still believe; you send us
Christ to find and to befriend us;
In his name we’ll live and pray.
In his healing, in his teaching,
Through his death by which God’s reaching
Worlds by service, praise and preaching,
Christ reveals God’s face today.
Then we’ll rise above what’s bound us;
Faith and hope and light surround us;
Love - God’s face in Christ - astounds us,
We will follow Him today
