FOLLOWING JESUS Matthew 9: 9-13
1 His work was seeing taxes paid;
despised were those who plied this trade;
the symbol and the tool was he
of hated Rome’s supremacy.
2 Yet longings in his life had stirred
and needed now a timely word‚
which came‚ when Christ to Matthew said‚
“Leave all and follow me instead.”
