The work of God that makes the world
In which we live and grow
Is all around in sun and rain
And sea and grass and snow
The work of human beings makes
The world a place to thrive.
From what is given it creates;
By art and science we live.
The work of God that makes this world
The universe's crown
Has taken dust and elements
To form us for his own.
The work of human beings fails
Sometimes to make the best,
But spoils the earth, destroying life,
Bringing us to the test.
