See, beyond that rocky outcrop,
struggling through the desert sand,
people who had known oppression
looking for a promised land.
Here there was no habitation,
home and peace seemed far away,
they had trudged across a desert,
cloud and fire had marked their way.
Hunger dogged their every footstep,
thirst was ever in the wings,...
