Five friends

Five Friends.

If you’d have seen these characters
on the night it all took place,
you’d have tried to hide some place inside
in case they all gave chase

five blokes, young, loud, full of life
rolling down the street
you’d have thought they all were full of beer-
not the sort you’d want to meet


but closer up, you’d hear the truth,
the lightness in their talking,
you’d see the wonder in their eyes,
the music in their walking

So what’s gone on, where have they been,
what have they done, what have they seen?

So let’s look at our characters
at the beginning of this day –
four of them are talking,
t’other one’s in a bad way –
he’s on his bed, it’s where he lives,
he’s been there a long time,
since he broke his back on a mountain track,
the only place he is seen
is on that bed, like I’ve just said –
he’s lived there a long time.


but the other four, who’re his oldest friends,
have hatched a cunning plan –
they’ve heard stories of a healer
a travelling miracle man –
