There are two hearts that are polar opposites. The cursing heart is not always plain to see. It can be well disguised, as in Psalm 55, when the person ‘having war in his heart’ can speak words ‘softer than butter’ and ‘smoother than oil, and yet be they very swords’ (v. 22). Sometimes you come across people who say all the right things and yet they leave you feeling uncomfortable. The devices and desires of their hearts are scheming against you. The tragedy is that such mischief can be found not just in the world at large but in the Church. Jesus had no qualms about exposing such religious hypocrisy...
