Will You Just Listen?
Job 13: 1-28
This afternoon I was on the phone with a friend who had moved to another city because he believed he had a call to go and work in a tough area there. He had joined a tiny church and had started a coffee bar that might be a meeting place for people and a beachhead for reaching people with the gospel. He wasn’t expecting that it would be an immediate success, but he believed that God would go with him and would support him. It didn’t work out, however, and he feels that he has been let down by the church, has had no real support from God, and has thus overextended himself. God wasn’t there. While he doesn’t want to do only the kind of things for which he believes he has the resources in himself, neither does he now feel he can take the risk of doing something for which he lacks those resources. He is arguing with himself and with God and wondering what hope he can have for the future...
