NUMBERS 6: 1-27

“Bless you,” we say when someone sneezes. “Blessings,” we put at the end of e-mails. “God bless,” my father would say as we went to bed. “It was a time of blessing,” someone may say at the end of a service. “Bless my soul,” we may say as an exclamation. “Bless you,” I sometimes say at the end of a phone conversation. “It was a blessing in disguise,” we may say when something unpleasant turns out to be beneficial. And at the end of a church service, I proclaim, “The blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be among you and remain with you always.” What do we mean by blessing?...
