Three nights ago I got very sick just for a little while after eating out; what I ate was salad, halibut, rice, and vegetables. I should doubtless have complained to the restaurant or reported the matter to the city, but I was too busy being ill to manage that (and anyway, it might have been caused by the flu shot I had that morning). Last night at a rehearsal dinner in connection with a wedding tomorrow I ate a magnificent pork barbecue. I had three helpings and some strawberry shortcake and cream, and drank several glasses of iced tea, and didn’t sleep too well, though I nevertheless invited the groom to get married once a month so we could repeat the event. It was as well that the company was Christian; a Jew would not have been able to take part (though there were also some veggie burgers). Why?...
