Description

A monologue for the human father of Jesus. Making the assumption that
births in the Ancient Near East were attended only by women, that Mary was very possibly assisted in her first labour by local women and “midwives”, and that, further, Joseph was excluded from this event, we find Joseph excluded from another aspect of fatherhood. In the lonely courtyard of the Bethlehem Inn, Joseph, in the safety of solitude, gives voice to the meditations of his heart.
