Manger Mouse and the Midnight Mayhem
On dark nights there was nothing Manger Mouse like better than to curl up in his warn snug nest, under the manger in the stable and fall fast asleep, undisturbed.
He would smooth his whiskers, rub his ears, close his eyes and snuggle down, safe and warm. Then he would fall fast asleep Mmmmmmm.
One night, though, it was just not to be! There was disturbance after disturbance. His nose would twitch, his ears prick up, his eyes blink open and he would wake up with a start – eeek!
Manger Mouse remembered it as the night of Midnight Mayhem. Here’s what happened!
Manger Mouse smoothed his whiskers, rubbed his ears, closed his eyes and snuggled down, safe and warm and fell fast asleep – mmmmm.
But…. something was not quite right.
It wasn’t as dark as usual; although it was very late it seemed almost like day.
Manger Mouse twitched his nose, pricked up his ears, blinked open his eyes and woke up with a start – Eeek.
Manger Mouse peered around and through the stable door noticed a star, a very bright star which seemed to be right over the stable. He found some hay to cover his eyes and make it a bit darker.
That’s better he said.
