Monologue: Tower of Babel
It was only when I met the barrel of bricks coming down and that hod carrier shouted at me and I didn't understand him that it all began to fall out of place... But wait a minute. None of that will make sense to you. Anyway, it took place some fifty years ago and you'll not remember. It was on the wireless, sorry radio. Wireless is something different isn't it. Anyway, I digress. And I keep saying anyway. Well it wasn't anyway, not just any way, it was some way in particular. Oh, this is such a muddle. Perhaps I'd better start again.
We were there. Me and my friends. I'd say 'my friends and I' but you'd think we was royal and we ain't. We were there. Laying bricks. Building a wall. Not very big at first. But growing.
