Description

These reflections were written for Pentecost worship when the congregation worked in small groups on various ways of working with Acts 2.
These were used with a group working with meditative prayer inspired by the coming of the Holy Spirit to the disciples.

Pentecost Reflection
The crowd gathered and they were bewildered. They said, “They are speaking our languages, describing God’s mighty works.”
Lord in order for us to speak of your mighty works we need to find a stillness in our own lives and hearts to receive your holy, life-giving, and confidence  inspiring spirit.
Gentle Spirit, blow through your gathered people this morning, let us give you our attention, listen to you speaking to us in the breathing and presence of those around us, in the noises of the building, in the sounds drifting from the street.
So take us this morning, meet us where we are at this point in our lives, at this point in our faith journey, empty us of all that drains us of our confidence,  all that saps our energy, and make this time together a time when you would pour out your spirit upon us, a time to receive your presence and peace, a time to be revived, refreshed and encouraged.
Lord Jesus, your closest friends were gathered in a room on the day of Pentecost, as we are gathered together.
