Description
Poem: A man with a devil
It took a man with a problem –
a man with a devil inside him, they said –
to recognize the real nature of Jesus first.
There was the knowledge
that here stood an enemy of evil.
There was fear that the holiness of God
could drive that evil away.
There was a loud proclamation
because there had to be a protest
and a declaration of an enemy present.
But it was not yet the time
for that knowledge to be widely spread.
So the evil was cast out and the man was silenced,
as well as being healed.
