During the course of a year there may be other opportunities for a festival celebration. It may link in with a community tradition such as a feast day or the arrival of the travelling fair, or it may be that there is a national event that offers a reason for celebration.
Alongside this there are also moments when the local church can celebrate its own unique story. Some churches have a tradition of celebrating a patronal festival, that is holding a special service on or near the feast day of the saint after which the church is named.
