As the stories of healings and miracles continued to circulate Herod heard about them and was convinced that John the Baptist had risen from the dead. First he had imprisoned John, then he had murdered him. He had been tricked into this by his wife, Herodias, who held a grudge against John for denouncing her marriage to the king.
