Poem: The Pharisee and the Tax Collector
One man stands and prays aloud,
very conscious of the crowd.
‘I’m so good you won’t believe it.
Hear my prayer, God, and receive it.
I’m the one who lives by rules,
not like thieves, adulterers, fools.
Look at that man cowering there.
Can you see the people stare?
