The seven friends met, as they had arranged, at ten o’clock the next morning. It had been a late night. They had all been excited. Now they were a little apprehensive at how they were going to take the project forward.

They had discovered that they were all interested in gardens, interested to the point of being ready to give up the various jobs they had at present and work together at a new business. There wasn’t a proper garden centre for twenty miles in either direction; there was clearly a hole in the market; the question was, how were they going to get started? Who was going to do what?...
