The sign in the shop selling alcohol challenges all and sundry. I was once buying a drink in one of the small bars in O’Hare Airport in Chicago and was astonished, as a bald and bearded middle-aged man, to be asked to produce proof of my age before I could be served. (Apparently there was some new crack-down in progress against under-age drinking; as usual with this kind of thing, as with airport security in general, 10,000 people have to go through a tedious and irrelevant ritual because one or two may be up to no good.)...
