Transfiguration (James reflects)

I think God must like mountains.
I know he looked on all creation and saw that it was good; but I still think he was particularly pleased with the way the mountains turned out.
Whenever I look up at them, they speak to me of his majesty and power.
When the clouds come down and cluster round the peaks, I’m reminded of God the invisible, the unknowable one.
And when I climb the heights and feel the wind, almost too strong to bear, I feel as though it is God’s own breath that surrounds and fills me.

It was on the mountain, in the clouds, that Moses met with our God and received our Law. Where else could that great moment have come to pass?
And when my brother John and I started following Jesus I soon got the feeling that mountains meant a lot to him as well.
When he climbed up high in the hills to teach, I wasn’t surprised.
