A God of surprises beyond expectation,
can capture our senses and brighten our night;
for just when our hopes were contracting and fading
the bridegroom arrives and our darkness is light.
Like bridesmaids still waiting to honour that bridegroom,
our patience is waning and sleep clouds our eyes,
but just before dawn when our minds least expect it,
God enters the drama affirming the wise.
Verse Three follows
Tune: WAS LEBET, WAS SCHWEBET
