Description
Let Christmas come
Let the Saviour small as a cradle and already playing with nails
Come to our century with its camps and soldiers, tourists and money-men,
and play the games of God with our souls,
Let the Josephs and Marys, those common people,
Let the hill men, the fabulous foreigners come,
With their faith in the stars and the minimum
Voice of the wind and the ancient words of the promise that heals.
Let the child born out of nowhere, nurtured in silence, come.
This time has need of his love of wood, his desire for festivals,
his simple prayers and parables, his martyrdom.
Let the star like a mobile phone ring over our city,
Let the Bethlehem conference guide the nations
Away from their disputes and isolations,
Continues...
