LET JUSTICE FLOW!
See the prophet boldly striding
into Israel’s royal shrine‚
king and priest and people chiding
with an oracle divine:
“Privilege brings obligation‚
I‚ your sovereign God‚ have said;
fail this test — and condemnation
swiftly falls upon your head.”
Solitary and discerning‚
Amos had lived out his days
in his mountain fastness‚ learning
all the wisdom of God’s ways‚
then‚ in buying and in selling
in the busy streets and marts‚
had uncovered proof compelling
of the greed in human hearts.
