The Liturgy of the Palms
Meditation on Matthew 21: 1-11
Gaze on the old city of Jerusalem,
the narrow lanes choked with shoppers
and craftsmen and crowded with
pilgrims. Walk past the noisy blacksmiths’
quarter, and wander through the district
where they dye cloth, and the brilliant
emerald and aquamarine hang out to dry l
ike banners. All comers are pressed
together, the rich jostle with the poor, in
a jumble of humanity. Smell the spices
on the stalls, see the dates piled up...
