Description
Prophets, and When to Ignore Them
1 Kings 12:33-13:32
When I look back over the leadership of the various bosses I have had (present company excepted, in case he reads this) and reflect on my own time as a boss, I can see various ways in which proven ability and divine guidance played a part in their appointment, and I can recognize ways in which their leadership was successful or not. One boss had proved himself in a different context but didn’t do so well in ours; another had proved himself in a less responsible position and also did well as the person at the top; and one person did well in a less responsible position but turned out not to be up to the top job. In all the cases, appointment bodies were seeking God’s guidance, but sometimes the appointments were mistakes. Was God not involved? Did they not listen to God enough? Was God limited by the talent available?...
