The Second Sunday before Lent
John 1.11-14

Gaze on the different sorts of lights there are in our lives. There is electric light available to us at the flick of a switch, revealing everything; the light from the blazing sun, that keeps our world alive; the narrow light that glimmers from a candle, flickering in the draught, casting shadows that perplex; a fire glowing warmly. Which of these lights is the light that John means in this passage? A little of all of them, but something more, for this is ‘the true light that enlightens everyone’...
