Description
Meditation- 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year B
2nd Samuel 18: 5-9, 15, 31-33 Psalm 130 Ephesians 4: 25-5: 2 John 6 35, 41-51
When David committed both adultery and murder (2nd Samuel 11), he set off a train of events that deeply scarred his family and caused him anguish. Even those of us who have not lost a beloved yet erring child like Absalom, can empathise with David’s grief at the death of his son (2nd Samuel 31-33). Psalm 130 is a cry for mercy; an appeal to God for help through some deep sorrow. The writer calls “out of the depths”, pleading for God’s attention (v 1-2). Like King David before him, he acknowledges that no one is worthy to stand before God; if the Lord kept a catalogue of our sins we would be without hope (v 3)...
