Description
Meditation: How Sarah laughed!
Genesis 18:1-16
Lord, how Sarah laughed
At your promise that her old, barren body
Would conceive, carry and give birth;
That her wrinkled, tired arms
Would nurse and comfort a fresh-faced child.
She laughed, yet your promise was fulfilled
In the surprising gift of Isaac, her son.
Lord, how they laughed and scoffed
To see the promised Messiah, the King of the Jews,
Nailed up like a ‘low-life’ killer or thief;
The popular hero condemned to death
By the populace he had loved and healed.
They laughed, afraid of such mighty love,
Love stronger than hatred and death itself.
