Within the Easter kaleidoscope, the Lamb becomes the Shepherd. John 10 is already complex enough, with Jesus as both ‘shepherd’ and ‘door’, but Revelation characteristically twists the imagery round once more, and the shepherd himself turns out to be the lamb that was slain. Thus is confirmed the radical redefinition of leadership in God’s economy: a meek, unwilling prophet in Exodus, a little child in Isaiah, and now a slaughtered lamb...
