Gabriel
I couldn't get anyone important for your carols tonight – Mary, Joseph, the Wise Men,
the Donkey – they're all doing big services at cathedrals. I've had to bring one of two
of the bit-part players. I am not apologising, they are just as necessary to the story but
they get forgotten. Oh, yes, and a shepherd, but you can always find a shepherd. And
the Boss sent me – Don't be afraid.
'Who am I?' I'm Gabriel. The big Dos are content with a wimp in a sheet and tinsel
wings who speaks posh. Angels aren't like that. We stand in the presence of the living
God. You can't do that and be a wimp. You heard of Hell's Angels? Well, we're
Heaven's Angels – God's bikers, God's messengers...
