Online discipleship and spirituality

Jesus said that where two or three are gathered in his name, he will be present. Many of us have found that this promise holds good online. Perhaps the very lack of physical presence, and the time it takes to respond to each other in writing, creates space in which the Holy Spirit can breathe into our conversations, as well as enabling us to ‘listen’ to another person more acutely. This may be the reason that online relationships can sometimes develop more quickly and become more intense than offline relationships. My own experience of online discipleship suggests that, for some of us, the digital space can be a ‘thin place’ where we feel the presence of God more strongly than in our everyday surroundings…
