Poem: Lost and found
I was lost, too:
straying away from the path that would lead me
to safety, security, family, loving and care.
I was the despair of those who had cherished me,
cradled me, treasured me carefully.
But for my pleasure I took to deserting them,
hurting them, turning my back on them,
then for the lack of a conscience,
I took my nonsensical way to a life
where the power of my will was devoured
by temptation, sensation and self-centred living.
