Why did Jesus not give us a set of moral laws? I suspect that for many of us it would have been so much easier had he done so.

Imagine for a moment that the Gospels were full of moral laws, dos and don’ts, like parts of Leviticus in the Old Testament. So, every time we had a debate about some important ethical issue, all that we had to do was look up the appropriate moral law. Instead of having endless debates within churches about issues such as homosexuality, euthanasia, market economics or climate change, all that we had to do would be to look up the moral law that Jesus taught..
